Honda Siel Cars India Limited showcased its upcoming small car model concept at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010 earlier this year in January. The car was announced to be launched in the Indian market by early 2011. Honda has also started working on the model and a production ready model is nearly ready. Honda recently showcased the model at the Bangkok International Motor Show.

Honda is contemplating its options to launch the car by end of this year instead of its planned schedule of sometime in early 2011. “The marketing teams are stepping on the gas now,” a firm official close to the development said on condition of anonymity. “No stone is being left unturned to ensure that the car enters the domestic market soon.”

It is rumoured that Honda may coincide launch of its small car with the rival model Toyota Etios that will come to Indian market by end of this year. However, the Indian official denied any such rumours. “We have no such plans, and we believe that 2011 will not be too late to launch the vehicle. Car penetration is still low in the country and there is a lot of space to grow,” said Jnaneshwar Sen, vice-president for marketing, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI).

2010 sees launch of several small cars and Toyota Etios and Honda concept models are amongst the list of cars yet to be launched after Chevrolet Beat, VW Polo, Ford Figo and Nissan Micra.
