The Honda Amaze, which is Honda's first diesel sedan in India, now has its own website. Expert opinions about the car from various auto journalists have been given on the website, prior to the Indian launch. A lot of hype has been generated around the 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine that is expected to power the Amaze in India, with various news networks talking about the engine's worthiness.

At a length of 3990 mm, the Amaze is under 4000 mm (sub 4 metres), which means that it would attract an excise duty of only 8 per cent. This would enable Honda to price this vehicle competitively against other entry level sedans, namely the Indigo eCS, Maruti DZire and the Mahindra Verito. Currently the highest selling vehicle in this segment is Maruti Dzire diesel.

From the exterior, the three box saloon does not look exactly similar to the Brio, from which it has been derived. The front gets extra chrome on the grille, and the boot looks cohesive with the vehicle, unlike the Dzire and the Indigo, that appear as though the rear has been attached. One can understand the differences with the hatch, by noting that the rear doors are different than those on the Brio. The Amaze gets a wheelbase that is 60 mm longer than the Brio.

The Amaze feels happiest while revving the vehicle below 3000 rpm. Performance is really good at the lower end, but seems to taper off as one goes up to 4500 rpm. The engine has been insulated well, with hardly any vibrations during idling. The aspect of refinement is an area where Honda scores above all other rivals.
