Hero MotoCorp has launched its most awaited motorcycle – the Splendor iSmart 110 at Rs 53,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is Hero MotoCorp’s first all new motorcycle co-developed with AVL engineering – its Italian engine partner.
First unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Splendor iSmart 110 is a very important product for the company. It’s the first Splendor branded motorcycle that’s been launched in the 110cc segment. Currently, Hero MotoCorp only has the Passion Xpro to compete with the likes of the Honda Dream Neos and Yugas. With the launch of the Splendor iSmart 110, Hero MotoCorp wants to increase its overall market share in the mass market commuter segment, where it holds the maximum share.
This commuter motorcycle gets a new 110cc engine air-cooled single-cylinder engine. This engine churns out 9bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 9Nm at 5500rpm. It is mated to a four-speed gearbox. This engine offers nine per cent more power and 12 per cent higher torque than the one in the 100cc Splendor iSmart. Hero claims an ARAI fuel efficiency of xx kmpl. This engine is BS-IV compliant - first in the segment.
In terms of features, the Splendor iSmart 110 gets the start stop system (i3s) and a decent looking speedometer. There’s a small LCD screen that shows the trip meter, odometer and fuel level. In terms of pricing, the Hero Splendor iSmart 110 competes with the Honda Livo.
