While expressing the concern over the ongoing standoff between management and workers at Maruti Suzuki India’s Manesar plant, the Industry Chambers in Haryana have asked the government off the State to intervene and resolve the problem on an immediate basis.

Speaking to the reporters on Friday, Gurgaon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Founder President, P K Jain said, "It is very sad to learn that labour unrest is still going on in Maruti car plant at Manesar. This issue should have not been allowed to prolong."

The Manesar based plant of Maruti Suzuki has been going through an almost complete production halt since August 29th. The problem started when most of the permanent workers at the plant refused to sign the ‘good conduct bond’ forced by company management. Now almost two weeks later, the strike has spread to three manufacturing units of Suzuki Motors in India, forcing Maruti to shut down the production completely on Friday.

While further expressing the concerns among the industries based in Gurgaon - Manesar belt, Mr. Jain said, "After seeing labour unrest issue at Maruti plant, fear in the minds of existing industries is embedded whether they should make new investments in such kind of volatile scenario."

At present, the state of Haryana is the largest producer of the passenger cars in the Indian market with two units of Maruti Suzuki (one each in Manesar and Gurgaon) producing about 12 lakh cars per annum.
