      Harley-Davidson aims a 10 fold sales jump in India by year 2015-16

      Harley-Davidson, the Iconic premium bike brand based in America, is looking forward to give a major boost to its sales figures in the Indian auto market. The company is aiming to register a 10 fold increase in its sales figures to 10,000 units in the country by year 2015-16.

      Excited with the response received by its recently launched Dyna series of bike, the company is planning to add one more bike of this series in its India portfolio in the coming months. Moreover, the firm is eyeing to take its dealership network to 10 dealers by this year end. By year 2014, the company aims to expand its international dealership network to 100 to 150 dealers.

      Speaking on the company’s future plans in the Indian market, Mr. Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley Davidson India, said, "Since the time Harley entered India in July 2010, we have sold over 1,000 bikes. We have set a target of having 40% of our sales coming from outside the US by 2014."

      As per the market watchers, super bike segment in India (above 800 cc) will register a rapid growth in the coming years. In year 2011, the superbike segment stood at 1600 units with a growth rate of 40-45%.
