Pininfarina’s legacy into building sportscars harks back to the old coachbuilding days when Ferraris and Lamborghinis were given to them as bare chassis and what came out of the factory were sportscars that we still revere. The latest from the Italian design house is an all-out sportscar built with none other than Emerson Fittipaldi, two-time F1 champion and two-time winner of the Indy 500.

This car is by no means road legal and built exclusively for a good time at the racetrack. At the heart of the EF7 is a pumped up V8 engine that develops 592bhp of power and 430Nm of torque. Unlike the current breed of turbocharged mills, the V8 in question is naturally aspirated and revs to about 9000rpm of old-school purity.

For all this power, the car weighs close to 1000kg and the chassis and suspension setup has been tuned by German racing outfit HQA AG known for its championship winning DTM cars. The dream team of Pininfarina, Fittipaldi and HQA have built the car with a brief that goes as follows “a top performing track car conceived for the gentleman driver and destined [for] limited series production, combining extreme performance with immediacy of use and safety in track racing even for a non-professional race car driver.”

The car, as you rightly guess, will be built in limited numbers for connoisseurs who would be ready to wait for this hand-built beauty wrought in carbon fibre and most certainly will cost a bomb. But do not worry, if you can’t afford to buy one, you could download it on the latest version of the Gran Turismo on your PlayStation and have a go at taming this beast.
