General Motors India has recently tied up with its Chinese counterpart SAIC in India to launch LCV in the Indian market. The two partners also intend to introduce a Nano rival in the country to capitalize on the booming Indian economy. “We will look at every market segment and I wouldn’t rule out anything,” said Timothy E Lee, president, GM International Operations. “When you harvest from your partnerships the collective wisdom of other cultures, it’s incredible what you can do."

General Motors India currently has models like Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Spark and Aveo that have been designed and developed in South Korea at Daewoo Motors. All models are into production in India at both the manufacturing units of GM in India.

General Motors Corp has complete access to Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and will first introduce its Wuling range of commercial vehicles in India. It is contemplating to launch the model with brand name Tavera. Later, it has plans to enter the Nano segment with its Chinese counterpart.
