      General Motors Introduced Optra Magnum in India

      Optra Magnum from General Motors is finally in India in its diesel version. The company had sensed a need for diesel version in the Indian market and has launched Optra Magnum as its first diesel variant in the Indian market. Earlier, it has launched Aveo, U-VA and Spark which are only available as petrol versions. It gets its name from hybrid mixture of Chevrolet SRV and Optra, petrol version. GM's Optra Magnum is currently competing against Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia in its segment.

      It is currently available in 3 variants as MAX, LS and LT. It has a 2.0 litre TCDi engine that generates the power of 120.5 PS @ 3000 rpm and a torque of 314 Nm @ 2125 rpm. It is priced at Rs. 8.74 lakh to 9.99 lakh that General Motors believes to be attractive for its customers. According to GM India president and MD Rajeev Chabra, the Chevrolet Optra Magnum diesel has been launched in India after introducing the diesel model in Europe and Korea. General Motors plans to tap the luxury diesel segment and Anisha Motwani, Director (Marketing) for General Motors says, GM aims to sell 60,000 units this year and mark a robust growth with its model Chevrolet Spark.
