Garuda is finally ready to be launched in the world of rising fuel prices and hiking interest rates. The new electric car manufactured indigenously by students of Mechanical Department of RV College of Engineering, Bangalore will be unveiled on August 2 at the college campus in Bangalore.

The car addresses some of the serious issues of the modern world which includes oil crisis, pollution and the urgent need for vehicle that run on alternative fuel sources. Garuda is the latest in series of innovations for fuel efficient cars that has been indigenously designed by Indian engineering students.

RVCE's Supermileage Super Fuel efficient car is one of the first steps toward participation in "SAE Supermileage International Competition" to be held in USA and "Shell Eco-Marathon," in the UK. Garuda project had been developed by students of RVCE under the leadership of Nishant Sarawgi with help from companies like Tantra Infosolutions, CD Adapco, Chameleon Motors, etc.

Students of RVCE had earlier unveiled "Chimera" as the hybrid car for the city drive. It was one of the most collaborative projects between the University and the auto industry which promoted and funded the project undertaken by the students. Chimera project was supported by REVA, National Instruments and Robert Bosch.
