      Garmin to provide navigation system to Mahindra after Maruti

      With an aim of giving Indian customers a chance to experience world class technology, top SATNAV manufacturer Garmin would be providing their navigation hardware in the new Executive edition of Mahindra Verito. Previously, the company had announced that it would provide Personal Navigation Services (PNS) as one of the Maruti Genuine Accessories (MGA). In Mahindra Verito, Garmin's Nuvi 40LM SATNAV device would be installed.

      Expressing his views on the new association, Daniel Chien, Senior Manager of Garmin Corporation was quoted as saying, “This is our effort to make sure that Indian people should get assistance of world class technology during travels. We expect that such partnership will help us achieve our target of making travel safer and easier for the people by improving the in-car and driving experience of Indian car owners.”

      There are several other interesting features of the Nuvi 40LM device. The display screen is 4.3 inches big and once the gadget is purchased, free Lifetime Map Support is granted automatically. One can program Voice Guidance in several languages such as Punjabi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, Hindi and English. It can be operated in a total of 4214 cities, providing information such as street names, lane information and house search. In this gadget, 7.3 million points of interest are covered in total. The device also has a high sensitivity receiver and a highway mode. Interestingly, names of streets are spoken in Indian accent. The Nuvi 40LM is prices at Rs. 8450. Another gadget known as the Nuvi 50LM is also available, which is priced at Rs. 9990. This comes with a 5.0 inch screen, instead of the 4.3 inch screen on the Nuvi 40LM.

      Mahindra's new Executive edition Verito looks more luxurious than the other models of the same car. Interiors are more sporty and luxurious in this model. Its steering wheel is wrapped in leather and the gear knob looks sporty. Centre fascia has been given a wooden finish. It is priced at Rs. 7.09 lakhs for the diesel version and Rs. 5.99 lakhs for the petrol version (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
