Banking on the surging demand for its vehicles in international auto market, Bajaj Auto Limited is anticipating that the exports of the company will account for 50 per cent of its entire sales volume during the coming three years in a row. The statement is based on the company’s entry in the emergent markets of Latin America, including Chile and Argentina.

S Ravikumar, Senior Vice-President (Business Development & Assurance), Bajaj Auto quoted, “In the last three years we have doubled our exports. The world is our market and we will continue to find new markets.”

As per the Senior Vice-President, 35 per cent of the company’s sales are accumulated from its exports. Speaking on their future plans, he further added, “In the next three years our aim is to have 50 per cent of our total sales to come from exports.”

The official says that in the region of Latin America, the company delivers 20 per cent of its entire motorcycle exports. Coming to the successful products, the company said, among the consignment delivered overseas, Pulsar 135 is counted among the hot selling models.

According to the Annual Report issued in fiscal 2012, oversees sales of Bajaj stood at 15.8 lac units with a surge of 31 per cent against the data of last year. On the grounds of revenue, the figures reported 35 per cent of the net sales of Baja Auto with Rs. 6,604 crore.

In the present scenario, the African region is at the top spot in the auto maker’s list of 35 countries, which accounts for 41 per cent of the total exports. Following Africa, Asia and West Asia embarks on 40 per cent exports, including motorcycles and three-wheelers. Bajaj Auto has earmarked Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as its top markets where three-wheelers exports are concerned.

In Africa, the Boxer line-up of Bajaj is the sole bestselling brand in the motorcycle portfolio of the company. Considering the hits in the Philippines auto market, Pulsar 135 and Boxer BM-150 are the bestselling models.

Commenting on the company’s approach towards the international market, Ravikumar quoted, “We are looking to expand presence in the Latin American market. Currently, work is in progress to enter the motorcycle segment in countries like Argentina and Chile.”
