Ford has decided to unveil the concept version of its all new Ford Fusion sedan at the Detroit Auto Show in 2012. According to reports, the American automobile manufacturer is also planning to launch another concept car called Ford Mondeo, at the Geneva Auto Show next year. Both the sedans are reportedly based on the popular Ford Evos concept, which was introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show this year.

Ford Evos concept showcased the new styling structure for all the future Ford cars. The concept featured an all-new trapezoidal front grille, narrower headlights and bold lines, giving a well-defined look to it. Ford Evos concept received an overwhelming response from the audiences at the show.

Ford Fusion and Ford Mondeo sedans are believed to possess an aggressive exterior structure, owing to the distinctly designed features of the Ford Evos concept. The two concept sedans have taken a leaf out of Ford Evos' book, with features like the angular headlights, bold curves and a cooling aperture being a part of the vehicles.

However, the engines of the new concept models have been built on different lines. Evos concept was based on the range-extended electric drive system, whereas, the new Fusion is likely to be powered by EcoBoost engines. Inspired by the Ford Fiesta ST, it will be affixed with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Furthermore, Ford Fusion is also expected to carry a 2-litre turbo charged engine.

In future, Ford is also planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid system, based on the C-Max Energi concept 2012. The plug-in hybrid system operates electrically for the first 50 miles, and as the battery extinguishes, it functions like any other normal hybrid.

Ford Fusion sedan is expected to go on sale in the American market during mid-2012. Diesel version for the new Ford Fusion would initially be introduced in Europe, whereas,   the new Ford Mondeo would be launched in Germany in 2012.
