Launched in India in June 2013, Ford’s compact SUV, EcoSport has so far found 63,000 homes across the nation within 13 months. Being the most awarded vehicle so far in India after Figo, demand for the SUV has been high since the beginning. EcoSport still attracts waiting period since Ford’s main focus is to suffice export requirements. However, it has been learnt that the company is trying to deliver remaining bookings by festive season and it might re-open bookings around that time. Looking at the number of EcoSport delivered in 13 months, each month 4800 units of the SUV were delivered. Ford has confirmed that it has increased production of EcoSport to meet growing demand.

In these 13 to 14 months the SUV has witnessed price bump from Rs 5.59 lakh to Rs 6.30 lakh for the basic 1.5 litre Petrol Ambiente variant and Rs 6.69 lakh to Rs 7.35 lakh for the basic diesel trim.

However all those who booked their EcoSport well in time also had to pay extra money as a result of price bump due to long waiting period. Designed aesthetically, the contemporary looking SUV has been catching attention of onlookers ever since it started being spotted on roads. Launch of EcoSport attenuated sales of its arch rival, Duster that was launched almost a year ago in July 2012. Many other compact SUVs are being developed by auto makers in India to rival EcoSport. Renault also is coming up with 4X4 variant of Duster along with its facelift version in domestic market soon.
