      Ford Sees Rise in Demand During the Festive Season

      Indian subsidiary of the American car maker, Ford India expects higher sales volumes during the festive season. It intends to increase its vehicle production at least by 30 percent. "We have been producing about 130 vehicles a day but this will be increased to 174 vehicles a day this month," Ford India President and MD Michael Boneham.

      Ford’s entry level sedan Ikon is the highest selling model for the company. There has been an increase in demand for this model already. Ford Endeavour and Fiesta models have also registered healthy sales growth in recent months. Ford launched new Endeavour this week priced between Rs. 15.99 lakh and 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

      Ford India Motor will also be the major production hub for parent company’s operations. Ford has announced investment to the tune of $500 million India to ramp up its Chennai plant. The US car maker, Ford Motors, did not seek the financial bailout package from the American government like GM and Chrysler. It is strengthening its operations in China, Thailand and South Africa as well.
