Ford India Private Limited (FIPL), a completely owned subsidiary of American multinational automotive manufacturer Ford Motor Co., is now just a few months away from introducing its EcoSport compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the domestic market. The company has already planned EcoSport's launch in our neighbouring nation- Nepal by the end of March 2013. Therefore, the compact SUV's launch could see Indian daylight somewhere in February 2013.
The ultra modish compact SUV has already been witnessed testing on local streets many a times in the past few months. The Ford EcoSport's biggest asset is its acclaimed EcoBoost diesel power-mill, which delivers some breathtaking power and torque performance as compared to its counterparts with even bigger engine displacements. The EcoBoost engine's small size regulates its fuel intake and helps in delivering an extremely impressive fuel efficiency rating, along with lower engine maintenance requirements.
Coming to the looks and style factor, the yet-to-be launched Ford EcoSport looks futuristic and possesses a certain monster truck like charm due to its astounding ground clearance. The small beast delivers when faced with tough challenges like uncertain off-road situations like sandy roads, muddy track, sharp inclines and river crossings. Evidently, the EcoSport looks like the most complete compact SUV designed till date.
The Ford EcoSport will be pitched against the likes of Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto, upon its launch in the Indian passenger car market. The American auto major is anticipated to tag its new compact SUV with an aggressive pricing, in order to circumvent its dwindling sales figures in the country. Top industry experts have pinned EcoSport to play a game changer for FIPL and only time will tell how the car performs in the Indian auto market.
