      Ford inaugurates new research center in Silicon Valley

      American carmaker Ford has inaugurated its new research center in Silicon Valley to move ahead in terms of improving mobility, connectivity, customer experience and deliver technologically advanced cars. The new research center shall reportedly be led under the guidance of Dragos Maciuca who in the past had been associated with Apple group. Maciuca holding a PhD. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California and also an MBA certification from Haas School of Business can be a vital contributor to the company's developments.

      Speaking more on the occasion, Mark Fields, Ford president and CEO, said, “At Ford, we view ourselves as both a mobility and an auto company, as we drive innovation in every part of our business. This new research center shows Ford’s commitment to be part of the Silicon Valley innovation ecosystem – anticipating customers' wants and needs, especially on connectivity, mobility and autonomous vehicles. We are working to make these new technologies accessible to everyone, not just luxury customers.”

      Ford expects the plant to evolve as one of the largest automotive research center in the region with about 125 researchers, engineers and scientists. Speaking more on the occasion, Ken Washington, vice president of Ford Research and Advanced Engineering, said, “Growing the Palo Alto team will strengthen our global research prowess and drive innovation needed to meet the needs of our customers in the future. Working together with the Silicon Valley research community will spark the new ideas, products and services that will help Ford once again change the way the world moves.”
