The Indian arm of Ford Motors seems all set to launch the much awaited EcoSport compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the domestic market. Interestingly, the authorised dealerships of Ford India have been receiving the advance bookings for the model since a few days now. It must be noted that although the prices of the upcoming EcoSport are not yet declared, individuals can book the model by paying just Rs. 50000. However, industry experts are of a view that the upcoming model from Ford India will be priced close to Rs. 8 lakh, which will make it a trend setting car in the compact SUV segment.
The 2013 EcoSport will come equipped with an option of three engines. The base variant will house a 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol engine, which has been doing a remarkable job in Ford Fiesta sedan. The second petrol engine variant will be equipped with much hyped EcoBoost 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine, whereas the third variant will be powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine.
In order to cater the demands of a large section of society, the model will be offered in four trim levels, namely Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Plus. Reportedly, the Titanium trim will be offered with an option of either 1 litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol or 1.5 Litre Ti-VCT petrol engine. For the 1.5 litre Ti-VCT petrol engine, the Titanium guise will be powered by a 6-speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic gearbox. Moreover, seven different colour options will be also offered with the upcoming EcoSport.
The key highlights of Titanium variant will include push button start and smart keyless entry. It must be noted that the SYNC emergency system will be incorporated in the top two variants. The two top of the line variants will also sport a CD/MP3 player, accompanied with a 3.5-inch multifunction screen. In order to make the interiors of the compact SUV attractive, EcoSport will be offered in two interior colour schemes, namely charcoal black with warm neutral gray (on all models except for Titanium Optional) and charcoal black with dark shadow gray (on Titanium Optional).
