      Famous car brands yet to arrive in India

      Indian car market is huge, literally, be it in terms of production volume, segment variation and number of players. According to reports and statistics, India is among the world's most emerging markets and has potential to become the largest as well. Brands from all over the world are present in India, trying to get a chunk of the tremendous potential that exists. Apart from Indian car makers like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, foreign brands or their domestic subsidiaries have performed extremely well, such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Toyota. Top notch European firms like Volkswagen, Fiat, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Volvo also have their operations firmly placed in India. Considering these figures and statistics, it is hard to imagine that a world-known brand does not sell cars in India. However, there are many brands, though globally popular, which are not present in India.

      One of the first names that come to mind while talking about such car companies is Subaru, a vehicle manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries. A highly acclaimed company internationally, Subaru has set benchmarks on the world level through its use of boxer engine and all-wheel drive layouts. Name of this company comes from the Japanese for a star cluster, which can be clearly seen on the brand's logo. Over the years, this company has produced a high number of vehicles, which are sold in regions like North America, Asia (partly), Oceania, Europe and Middle East. Some of the models that have been key in shaping this brand's history are Libero, Vivio, Rex, Tribeca and Rex. Apart from being a successful firm in terms of business, Subaru has been a pioneer in keeping mind the environmental as aspect as well.

      Michigan is among the most famous regions in not only in USA but the world as well due to its connection with automobiles. It is the birthplace of legendary automobile personality Henry Ford, who has been significantly important in shaping the history of global auto industry. The number of car companies with their headquarters in Michigan is incredible. Chrysler is one such brand that is known across the globe for its superb luxury sedans, minivans and convertibles. At present, Chrysler is a consolidated subsidiary of Italian giant Fiat. Chrysler, in turn, owns a number of brands like Jeep, Dodge and Ram. Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) from Jeep have set benchmarks in the world. Currently, neither Jeep, Ram nor Dodge are operating in India. However, strong rumours and reports have suggested that Jeep brand would be launching Grand Cherokee and Wrangler models in India. Despite not being available in the market, brands like Jeep and Dodge have a following in the country.

      General Motors is counted among the largest auto makers in the world and is present in India through Chevrolet brand. However, there is brand owned by this firm that, although famous throughout the world, does not sell cars in India, Cadillac Motor Car Division. Some of the iconic models from this company are Eldorado, Deville, CTS, Escalade and SRX. Other firms that are not present in India include Infiniti (Japanese), Lincoln and Kia Motors.
