The facelifted hatchback from the Korean manufacturer has now been spotted sans camouflage in India ahead of its official launch.
The Indian-spec car gets a revised cascading grille. The larger and curvier hexagonal grille gets rectangular floating pegs, replacing the horizontal slats of the previous model. The fog lamp housing is sleeker and elongated with redesigned black inserts. The rear bumper is redesigned with black insert running all along the rear and incorporates circular reflecting lights. The cabin, on the other hand, hasn’t received any alterations. Though, the higher-spec variant of the car is expected to come with Android and Apple Carplay features with a larger 7.0-inch infotainment screen. Features like airbags and ABS are expected to be offered as standard across the range once the car is launched.
Under the hood, the new Grand i10 will get a new diesel engine. A 1.2-litre powerplant developing 75bhp and 171Nm will replace the 1.1-litre diesel engine. The new 1.2-litre diesel unit mated to a five-speed manual transmission is expected to offer slightly better power output figures that the outgoing engine. The petrol version will continue with the 1.2-litre Kappa unit making 81bhp and 114Nm albeit with better efficiency.
When launched in India, the pricing is expected to be on par with the current range. It will continue to face competition from other mid-size hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and the Tata Bolt.
