In its recently released half yearly plan, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it will launch a facelift for the S-Class as well as GLA crossover in 2017. However, before these, it will launch the E-Class coupe as well as the All-terrain model later this year.
S-Class facelift: Mercedes-Benz introduced the current generation of the S-Class in 2014 and it has been a major success for them. The flagship model has spawned 10 body styles across multiple engine options. Spy shots tell us that not much is expected to change in terms of appearance apart from some updates to the lighting packages. However, we can expect new technology underneath as well as an updated cabin with more luxury options. We got the current S-Class just six months after its global debut so a similar timeline should be on the cards for the Indian market.
GLA Class: When it was launched, the GLA became the smallest crossover from the Three-Pointed Star. It proved to be a successful formula as it became the second most popular car in the MFA lineup after the A-Class. The changes are expected to be minimal in terms of external appearance with only some major updates for the lighting packages and probably the wheels. The cabin, however, will get an updated feature list like a larger touchscreen and new trim packages.
E-Class coupe, All-Terrain and cabriolet: The latest generation E-Class was launched last year and slowly but surely Mercedes-Benz has been revealing new body styles for its mid-size sedan. The sedan and estate versions are already on sale while a coupe and All-Terrain version will see the light of day next year. The Coupe and the cabriolet will use the same engines and underpinnings as the sedan but minus the rear doors. Expect an AMG as well as diesel for both models. The All-terrain version will be a new addition to the lineup and will rival the likes of the Audi A6 All-Road. In essence, it is the E-Class estate with a muscular body kit, taller wheels and higher ground clearance, a body style that has grown in popularity over the last few years.
We can expect all these cars to be offered in the Indian market by the start of 2018. They are all expected to be locally assembled save for the E-Class All Terrain, coupe and the cabriolet.
