Renault is looking forward to bolster its product line-up in the country with new and upgraded low-cost models. These new cars will include a compact SUV, a MUV, a sedan and a XBA hatchback. The interesting aspect about these cars is that all of them will be in the sub four-metre length category.

Renault has recently diversified itself towards more cost-effective products with the brand Dacia, which fared well in Europe, mostly during the global recession period. The main contribution was that the brand could easily enter the cost-effective more conveniently. Renault is working hard on a compact SUV, which will be placed below the super-running Duster. Apart from this SUV, the auto maker is also working hard on a couple of entry-level models, which will be targeted to the emerging markets on the basis of a low-cost platform.

If the reports are to be trusted, Renault is working on four different models of four categories on a specific low cost CAMM platform. All these models will be below four metres in length. The new entrants will feature a brand each in the sedan, hatch, SUV and MPV category. Once launched, these cars will be targeting the entry-level markets of India Argentina and Brazil, to name a few.

MPVs are the next big thing in the Indian automobile industry with Datsun GO+, which is scheduled for a launch next year. The leading Indian car maker Maruti is also looking forward to launch a 7-seater model in this segment. This model will be based on the Wagon R platform and will be specifically made for the Indian and Indonesian markets. Renault India has Lodgy MPV in the pipeline, which will go head to head with Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.

The new model set to be launched will be positioned below the Lodgy and will boast of a competitive price tag. Even there are chances of the sedan making it to India; Renault is looking forward to the chances of doing the same. Though the talks are well in progress, a timeline has not yet been fixed by the company.
