Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun has revealed a teaser image of a new compact crossover concept that will be showcased on October 29 at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Since the company has already announced the third product for the Indian market, we expect a crossover based on the same concept making its debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo as well. If reports are to be believed, the teased concept could be a closer-to-production version of the Datsun Redi-GO, which was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo. Though, the company hasn’t officially commented on this.

The teaser image shows the front design of the concept that features chrome surround trapezoidal grille with signature Datsun badge, swept back headlamps, fog lamps and a bit of wheel arch. Datsun’s upcoming compact crossover will be based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s modular CMF-A platform that also underpins the recently-launched Renault Kwid. Besides the platform, the vehicle will also share its design cues with its hatchback sibling. The engine details are still under the wrap, but it’s supposed to come with a larger capacity engine than Kwid’s 800cc, 0.8-litre motor.

According to reports, the upcoming compact crossover will be manufactured in India, and then exported to other Asian markets. It is likely to be launched in India just after its unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.  We will update you as soon as the vehicle is unveiled. Stay tuned.
