The small car segment is experiencing a boom in the Indian auto industry, and thus several performance oriented models are now offered in the same. In this segment, Maruti 800 remained an undisputed champion for several years, which has been now succeeded by Alto to carry its legacy. In order to compete with the same, the South Korean auto maker, Hyundai Motors introduced its brilliant Eon. With its flagship model, Hyundai usurped Maruti’s status of a price-competitive car maker, which provoked the latter to hit back hard with its all new Alto 800.

Featuring an identical 3-cylinder engine under their hoods albeit, Eon is believed to be a more formidable rival to the new Alto 800. With an advanced technology, Hyundai Eon impacted hard on the sales of Alto, a thing which was done by none of the models before. The outcome assumed by industry experts was that the competition between both the models will be going to become tough, which eventually turned out to be the same.

Auto analysts believe that the new Alto 800 is provided with an extended designing language of its previous generation model, however the detailing treatment marked great difference. Stylistically, the bonnet of Alto is adorned with the petal-shaped headlights, flaunting black accents to set off the high beam. The turn indicators of Alto 800 characterises the front fascia of the model and its new grille, which mounts a Suzuki moniker. Industry experts believe that the new generation model is although different, it retains several previous generation Alto-esque credentials.

On the other hand, Hyundai Eon got the attention of Indian auto aficionados owing to its successful ‘Fluidic Design’. The bumper and front grille of the model comes with a neat translation of brilliant trapezoidal design lines, which are somehow now found in almost all the Hyundai Models. Eon has big-sized headlights, which flanks the front grille on both the sides, providing a final touch to the model at the front portion. Coming to its side designing, Eon reminds of its sibling model, i10. In order to provide a sporty touch to the model, the designers at Hyundai have provided big wheel arches and roof spoiler, adding to the styling statement of Eon.

When parked side by side, industry experts believe that Eon grabs more attention, because of its brilliant designing philosophy. However, on account of MSIL’s reliability, after sales service network and cheap spare parts availability, a large chunk of domestic audience goes for the new Alto 800 as against Hyundai Eon.
