Great Wall Motor Company (GWMC), one of China's largest cars and sports utility vehicle (SUV) maker, has revealed intentions to mark its presence in the Indian auto market in near future. The Chinese auto major seems to be strolling in the footsteps of its fellow commercial vehicle maker Beiqi Foton Motor Co. Ltd.

The revelation came on December 10, 2012 in New Delhi by the hands of Vishnu Mathur, Director General (DG) of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). In an interaction with some reporters on Monday, December 10, 2012, Mathur was quoted as saying, “Officials of Great Wall Motor Co (GWM) were in Delhi last week for discussions and they have a team in India which is looking for location for a plant.”

According to Vishnu Mathur, Great Wall Motor Company has sorted some great ambitions for the Indian auto market. He added that the Chinese auto giant is aspiring for an independent entry in the country and not through any of joint venture partnerships.

Reportedly, GWMC has comprehensive product portfolio comprising saloons like Great Wall C30 and Great Wall C50 along with hatchbacks like Great Wall C10 and Great Wall C20R. Further, the company is renowned for its SUV range that includes the likes of Haval M4, Haval H5 and Haval H6 models amongst others.

As per the GWMC's official website, it has an annual production output around 8 lakh units, with exports operations to over 100 international markets. The company has estimated its sales target to exceed 13 lakh units, with projected annual vehicle yield to exceed 15 lakh units by the end of 2015.
