General Motors India has announced that the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV will make its way to the Indian market this year. Moreover, the company will also introduce the Spin Multi-Purpose MPV in the country in 2016. Recently, Chevrolet imported both SUV and MPV to India for research & development (R&D) and testing purposes. GM shared this information with its Indian dealers during their annual meeting in Bangkok on February 13.
Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the Chevrolet Trailblazer will rival against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Endeavour. Already available in Thailand market, the SUV is available in two diesel engines. Under the hood is a 2.5-litre inline diesel engine that is good for 163bhp and 380Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. The other engine is the 2.8-litre inline diesel unit that produces 200bhp and 500Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Chevrolet Spin MPV might be positioned between the Enjoy and Tavera. It measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,656 mm in height. The MPV is available in two petrol engines- a 1.2-litre and 1.5-litre petrol units. A five-speed manual gearbox is likely to be offered as a standard offering, while a six-speed automatic will be made available with the 1.5L petrol. The oil burner is the tried & tested 1.3L multi-jet unit that also powers the Enjoy MPV.
