BMW India had lost its top position to Mercedes earlier this year. The company has massive expansion plans lined up for the domestic market to capture the top slot once again. To start with, the company has already put its plans to launch its two wheelers in the Indian market. It has already introduced the new premium and luxury bike models in the international market and were displayed at the recent Paris Auto Show as well.
BMW has currently undertaken the feasibility study to introduce these models in the country and the picture looks quite promising. “It’s pretty evident the company is interested in getting the bikes here. We are actively looking into it. We will be able to take a decision on the same before the end of the year, may be in a few weeks,” said BMW India’s president, Andreas Schaaf.
If BMW two-wheelers are launched, this will be a second entry of the bikes in the Indian market. BMW used to earlier sell its premium bikes in the Indian market 15 years ago in association with Hero Group. The expected price of the new bike models will be Rs. 9 lakh and above.
