      BMW 1-Series facelift unveiled

      BMW, the German luxury car maker, has unveiled the much-awaited 2016 BMW 1 Series facelift ahead of its public premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in the first week of March. The new 1 Series hatch will also make its Indian launch by the end of this year or by early 2016. The updated model gets changes to both exteriors and interiors.

      The updated BMW 1 Series gets an all-new front fascia with a slightly larger grille flanked by slimmer headlamps and a new bumper. The vehicle styling seems inspired from the new 2 Series. The LED daytime running lamps are now available as standard. Adding to it, the company is also offering full LED headlights with LED high-beam assist as an optional feature. The wheel arches of the car have been fitted to newly designed alloy wheels. Its side profile gets new aggressive lines running across the length. At the back, the premium hatch has new 2-piece tail lamps with L-shaped graphics. It also gets LED technology and new bumper.

      Inside the cabin, the updated 1 Series has new upholstery for seats and chrome treatment to switchgears. Its iDrive system comprises of a 6.5-inch unit, while a larger 8.8-inch screen will be offered as an option. It also gets an updated engine lineup. Instead of the 1.6-litre four cylinder unit, the new model gets the new 1.5-litre three-cylinder motor that is good for 109bhp and 180Nm of torque. The oil burner is the new 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 136bhp and a peak torque of 220Nm. It is also offered with the same 2.0-litre 4-pot motor that produces 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
