      Bajaj RE60 Quadricycle launch in October

      The RE60 Quadricycle from Bajaj has been in the news for quite a long time. The passenger vehicle had been much anticipated in the local market to deliver with affordable commuting solution. As per the latest update from sources, Ministry of Roads and Transport has authorized the vehicle to ply on local streets by October this year. Post the announcement, Bajaj has reportedly been working in full swing in testing and developing the upcoming car.

      The Bajaj RE60 Quadricycle is expected to be powered by 216cc liquid cooled, four valve, fuel injected engine churns out a modest power output of about 18 bhp. The triple spark engine shall be powered by Petrol. The company states that the car is capable of delivering an astonishing fuel efficiency of about 30 - 35 kmpl.

      The report states that, “As far as the numbers and as far as the impact on the P&L (a/c) is concerned, it will not be significant. We believe Quadricycle could add Rs 480 crore this year and Rs 850 crore next year in incremental revenues to the topline. In terms of profitability, it could add Rs 58 crore and Rs140 crore in FY15 & FY16 respectively.”

      Bajaj has stated that its shall manufacture RE60 at the Waluj Plant located in Aurangabad Maharashtra that has a capacity of producing about 60,000 units per annum. It is also anticipated that the company may utilize the plant to manufacture the left hand drive version for the international markets later on.
