Immense support has been lend out to the India's leading passenger car maker, Maruti Suzuki, by several big players of the industry after the recent strike that took place at its Manesar production plant. The fatal rage erupted suddenly and ended-up with the death of a company’s General Managers and leaving 100 other members of management being injured.

Earlier, workers union of the plant alleged that the clash between the two parties occurred due to some casteist remarks made against a low-caste worker by his supervisor. However, so far in the case, the management and other investigations have revealed that it was a pre-planned act against the auto maker’s management. Police have also rounded-up several persons to find a lead in the case. The state government sources says that the ungratified demands of the workers triggered to such a mayhem, whereas the Maruti Suzuki on other hand claims that it was a criminal conspiracy, not a labour issue.

To support the company’s management, top brass of Honda Motors along with its employees and two other automobile companies are planning to stage a protest. The remonstration will condemn and strengthen voice against the heinous act of violence took place at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar facility in the third week of July 2012.

A probe has been already initiated into the matter by the Haryana government. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has also expressed its grief and concern regarding the issue. The union reminds that during last year's strike at Maruti, not even a single act of violence or any damage by the workers was reported. The incident must be “Inquired into by an independent agency instead of making a shortcut projecting it as a violence and arson by workers...,” urged CITU.

Tapan Sen, CITU's General Secretary, quoted “mass-scale indiscriminate arrests and detention of workers, rampaging worker's colonies" are still persistent. He further adds, “CITU demands upon the government to stop such witch hunt and terror on workers and institute an independent inquiry into the incident including the antecedents to bring the truth to light and punish the guilty.”

A circular has been issued to all industries throughout the state and a full support has also been assured by the Haryana Government to Maruti Suzuki. The incident has eventually led to lockout at the plant and prohibition notices are pasted all around the unit. This shut down has consequently affected the business of the manufacturer as this facility rolls out some of the best selling models of the company. However, the support offered by the automobile fraternity will help to avoid such incidents of labour unrests in future.Immense support has been lend out to the India's leading passenger car maker, Maruti Suzuki, by several big players of the industry after the recent strike that took place at its Manesar production plant.
