Taking a cue from other car manufacturers, Audi India has decided to increase prices of its cars in the country, with effect from 1st January 2013. A hike in the range of Rs. 59,000 to Rs. 3,69,000 (ex showroom Delhi) has been decided by the company. Major reasons for this are similar to the reasons given by other manufacturers that is rising fuel and raw material costs.

Commenting on the price hike, Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India, said, “As we have stated earlier, the overall market scenario is challenging. The rise in input cost, depreciating rupee as well as continuous increase in fuel prices have made us re-evaluate our pricing strategy in India and increase the prices of our entire model range. However, we are offering our customers customized and innovative finance options from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive.’’ In terms of percentage, the increase would range from 1 per cent to 5 per cent.

As per Audi standards, the price of Audi A6 2.0 TDI would go up by 2.5 per cent to Rs.40.86 lakhs, and the same increase would be applied to Audi A8 L 3.0 TDI q (Rs. 91.29 lakhs) and Audi Q3 2.0 TDI q (Rs. 27.9 lakhs). The increase on the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI q is the least at 1 per cent (Rs.58.84 lakhs), whereas Audi S4 3.0 TFSI q has gone up by 5 per cent (Rs.48.49 lakhs). But even without this price hike, Audi India has managed to go past a sales target of 8000 vehicles for the year 2012.

In November 2012, 805 Audi vehicles have been sold as compared to 425 vehicles during the same period, which shows a whopping increase of 89 per cent. Even from January- November 2012, sales figures have risen by 58 per cent to 8,072 units. Various Audi vehicles available in India include the new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q3, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, Audi S4, Audi TT Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder.
