Keeping up its assault against competitors in the luxury car segment of India, Audi scored a point by recording 85 per cent growth in terms of sales volumes in the first three quarters of 2011. This is certainly an unprecedented figure, something that will keep the company happy about its prospects in the booming Indian auto market. Moreover, it will keep the German manufacturer on its toes for the last quarter of 2011 as well as for the coming year. Thus, competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz can expect more aggressive marketing and new launches from Audi India.

Talking about numbers, the Indian subsidiary of Audi sold 4692 cars between January and October 2011, while it had registered sales figures of 2535 cars during the same period in the previous year. Furthermore, after selling 482 cars in October 2011, the company certainly seems to be on the path to success in the last year as well. This amounts to a 35 per cent growth over the same month last year, when the company sold 357 vehicles in India. Regarding the last quarter of 2011, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India commented, “Our market leadership in the luxury SUV segment with our Q5 and Q7 and in the super sports car segment with the iconic R8, I am confident of a strong fourth quarter and an exceptional growth rate for the year as a whole.”

With such astounding sales figures, it is no wonder that the automotive giant has set the bar quite high for itself for the upcoming year. Michael Perschke said “This year is shaping into, what we believe will be, Audi’s most successful year in India to date. We launched six class-defining models this year and with the introduction of Audi Indore later this month, we are focused at strengthening our dealership network across India. With our strengthened ‘A’ range of limousines with the Audi A6 specifically catching a lot of attention, having already received an overwhelming response beyond expectation. I am confident that we are well on our way to exceeding our sales targets of 5,000 cars this year.”

The company believes that its constant emphasis on providing the Indian audiences with an energetic product line through its ever-expanding dealership network has contributed to this success. Apart from this, the brand name and the relationship that it enjoys with customers have also been instrumental in paving the road to success. Keeping future growth in mind, the company opened 4 new showrooms in India and plans to expand the dealership network in 5 more regions, thus taking its total to 18. With clear plans to set new benchmarks in terms of sales, this German automotive giant is looking towards a bright future in the booming Indian automotive sector.
