Indian arm of Audi, a renowned German luxury automotive marque and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, is set to launch its new R8 V10 Plus super car at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), situated in Greater Noida on April 4, 2013. The Audi R8 V10 Plus is the company’s fastest production sports car ever, and is already marketed in United States and Europe. It's about time that the fastest Audi super car gets to see the Indian daylight today.
Speaking of under-the-hood specifications of Audi R8 V10 Plus, the super sports car is powered with the mammoth of a 5.2 litre V10 powertrain, which is made by the iconic Italian auto maker- Lamborghini. The 5.2 litre R8 V10 Plus engine churns out an astounding peak output power of 550 bhp, along with an equally nerving highest torque delivery of 540 Nm. The standard drivertain incorporated in the super car is in All Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration and comes mated to a seven speed S-Tronic automatic transmission system.
The Lamborghini-sourced 5.2 litre engine used in the R8 V10 Plus can also be found in the Audi R8 Spyder and R8 V10 coupe models. However, the soon-to-be launched Audi R8 V10 Plus engine is tweaked to generate 25 bhp more power than the ones installed in R8 Spyder and R8 V10 coupe, along with a 10 Nm improvement in the torque figures. As per reports, the Audi R8 V10 Plus accelerates 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 317 kmph.
At present, the Audi R8 V10 model is offered to domestic buyers at a price tag close to Rs. 1.8 crore and therefore, the R8 V10 Plus is expected to be priced above Rs. 2 crore in the Indian auto market.
