The bookings for the Audi Q3 commenced less than a week ago and the car has already garnered over 400 bookings. This comes as no surprise since the success of the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the domestic market had been predicted by the company head, Michael Perschke. The Q3 was launched by Audi India in Mumbai on 6th June 2012.

One of the most anticipated launches in the domestic market, the youngest and smallest car in the Q series of Audi was unwrapped by the company at the 2012 Auto Expo in January. The model is powered by a robust and fuel efficient 2.0 TDI Quattro powertrain unit and is launched with a price tag of Rs. 26,21,000 (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the base petrol-powered variant. On the other hand, the higher diesel variant was priced at Rs. 31,49,000 (Ex-showroom Maharashtra). Both the trims were made available at the 19 Audi dealerships cities across the country. Audi Q3 is pitched against the segment leading BMW X1 in India and the initial bookings seem to indicate that the former will certainly give stiff competition to the latter in India.

Audi continues to tread on the success path and seems set to maintain its market leading position in the luxury SUV segment of the Indian market. It currently has Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi R8 Spyder, Audi RS5 and the recently launched Audi TT Coupe in its line-up. The success curve of the company went even higher as the company reported a 10 per cent growth over the 408 cars sold in May 2011 as it rolled out 450 units in the corresponding period in 2012. During the months of January to May 2012, it grew by 37 per cent with sales volume of 3,281 vehicles against 2,394 cars sold in same time period of 2011.
