      Audi India posts remarkable 48 per cent surge in automobile sales

      Audi India, the German auto marque, has recorded a remarkable 48 per cent growth in its automobile sales in the country during the period January and August this year at 5406 units, a sharp increase from the 3655 units sold during the same period last year. The company sold 726 cars in August 2012 as compared to 510 cars sold in the same month last year, registering a 42 per cent sales growth.

      Expressing his delight at the incredible figures, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, said, “The year 2012 has been remarkable for Audi in India. Our steady growth amidst the challenging market conditions in the luxury car segment is not only commendable but also showcases the faith our customers have entrusted in us. With a total of 5406 units sold this year so far, we are confident of steering towards, and potentially surpassing, our target of 8000 units this year.”

      Perschke further added, “Our customers are able to identify with our brand equity, which drives on sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication. This is fuelling our growth in India and we continue to be the fastest growing brand in the luxury car segment. We are expanding our reach and we plan to add 5 more dealerships by the end of this year to our existing network of 20.”

      The Indian arm of Volkswagen owned auto major Audi is regarded as a luminary in the Indian luxury Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, largely due to its immensely fawned upon Q5 and Q7 models. The addition of Q3 model has also strengthened the company's superiority in the luxury SUV segment in the country. Audi India's flagship models in the sports car segment like Audi R8, Audi RS5 and Audi TT Coupe are considered market leaders as well.

      Reportedly, Audi is currently aiming for a pan-Indian presence and has recently opened brand new stores in Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. In 2011 the company opened new stores in South Delhi, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore as well. Audi India is working towards 25 stores spread across the country with new facilities to be established in Lucknow, Goa and several other Indian cities as well.

      Audi's current car line-up in India comprises new A4, A6, A7, A8L, Q3, Q5, Q7, S4, RS5 Coupe, TT Coupe, the super sports cars R8 and R8 Spyder. In order to sell its fleet, the company has a cross country presence with its showrooms in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, South Delhi,West Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Surat.
