With an exponential sales growth of 50 percent in the month of April 2012, Audi India has embarked upon commencing the second quarter of this year with the grand launch of the eighth generation sedan A4, two month before the scheduled launch date.
The German automaker owned by the Volkswagen Group has been rendering a close fight to the country’s number one premium automaker Mercedes Benz and with the launch of the new A4 is directed to intensify the rivalry with the existing and upcoming launches of Mercedes Benz and BMW in their Indian portfolio.
The new compact executive car, Audi A4 has been priced between Rs. 27.33 lakhs to Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom Maharashtra) which is around Rs. 60000 lesser as compared to the outgoing generation. The A4 is now furnished with ample interior space embodied with longest wheel base in the segment and is claimed to comprise 10percent to 25 percent greater fuel efficiency than the earlier model.
Mr. Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India commented on the launch of A4 as, "We are already the segment leader with the A4. Thanks to the outstanding sales performance in the first quarter of 2012 of its predecessor encouraged us to pre-pone the launch of the new Audi A4. The launch of the A4 and with the upcoming Q3 in June, we aim to build our volumes even faster and work towards our aim of achieving number one position in the next few years."
The automaker has revealed that the Audi A4 will be offered in three engine options- 1.8 litre TFSI, 2.0 litre TDI version and 3.0 litre TDI that is expected to be priced at Rs. 27.33 lakhs, Rs. 29.38 lakhs and Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom Maharashtra) respectively.
