Mercedes-Benz will launch the all-new C-Class sedan in the Indian car market on November 25, 2014. First unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, the new C-Class is based on the new lightweight modular rear-drive MRA (Mercedes Rear-drive Architecture) platform that will also underpins several other rear wheel drive Mercedes sedans and SUVs.

The new C-Class is longer and wider than the previous model; however, the height has been reduced by 5mm to 1442mm. The new C-Class length is up by 95mm to 4686mm, while the width is increased by 40mm to 1810mm. An increase of 80mm to 2840mm in wheelbase contributes to its spacious cabin. The C-Class is longer than the upcoming CLA four door Coupe, which is scheduled to go on sale in early 2015.

The new C-Class shares its styling cues with the flagship S-Class and the A-Class family. The vehicle features the long bonnet, set-back cabin, narrowed glasshouse and aggressive creases all around. It is equipped with more luxurious interiors, and component sharing with the S-Class is also expected. The longer wheelbase gives an extra 25mm legroom to rear passengers. The model comes with a decent boot space of 480-litres, which also sees an increase of 5mm.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be equipped with high end safety features including lane assistance, parking assistance, autonomous driving at low speeds and in traffic jams, etc. Initially, the vehicle will be available in petrol engine only; however, the company will later introduce the oil burners.
