Aston Martin is recalling more than six thousand cars in the US for an issue regarding door locks. When locked from outside, the double locking system of the Aston Martin cars does not allow opening the doors from inside which may lead to trapping of occupants.

The double-locking mechanism was developed by Aston Martin as a security measure of their cars but has resulted in a potential hazard as per the American laws regarding occupant safety. It affects Aston Martin cars produced between 2010 and 2016.

Aston Martin will re-programme the central locking mechanism at their dealerships free of cost. The affected models are the DB9 (2010-15), DBS (2010-12), Rapide & V8 Vantage (2010-16), Virage 2012, Vanquish (2014-16), V12 Vantage (2011-16) and V12 Zagato (2012-13). If you have any of these cars is India, it would be advisable to check at the nearest dealership if it is a part of the recall.
