The 2014 model of Audi R8 super sports car has hit the company’s stores and would be seen as Tony Stark’s favourite automobile in upcoming Iron Man 3 movie. The big budget film will be released in India on April 26, 2013 and portrays the new Audi R8 as the preferred sports car of Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.).
Commenting on the new stunner from the company, Scott Keogh, President of Audi America, was quoted as saying, “The launch of the R8 represented the turning point of the Audi brand and placed luxury on notice. The 2014 R8 will continue to build upon that success for our halo sports car and for the Audi brand as a whole.”
The 2014 Audi R8 V10 is powered with a 5.2 litre V10 beast of an engine, which develops an astounding maximum power output of 550 bhp and highest torque delivery of 540 Nm. The drivetrain is equipped with the cutting edge S-Tronic seven speed automatic transmission system that has resulted in a 0.3 second improvement of the car’s acceleration as compared to the previous version. Accordingly, the super sports car now accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds. Further, the 2014 Audi R8 boasts off a top speed of 315 kmph.
The Indian arm of Audi, a world renowned German luxury and sports automotive marque, had launched the R8 V10 Plus super sports car in the domestic car market on April 4, 2013. The stunning model was unveiled at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida and was claimed by the company as its fastest production super sports car till date.
Expressing his views on the arrival of Audi R8 V10 Plus at Indian shores, Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India, was quoted as saying, “I am confident that this high performance super sports car will allow us to further build upon our leadership position in the super sports car segment in India and maintain the iconic position of the R8 in India.” He further added, “Going forward this year, we will see couple of our performance cars from the global portfolio coming to India.”
