Ford India has recalled 20,752 units of its highly successful sub-compact SUV- the Ford EcoSport. It is recalled to rectify an issue related to fuel and vapour line corrosion in the long term. All variants of the Ford EcoSport will be recalled by maker, which were manufactured at the company’s manufacturing unit between January 2013 and September 2014.
Adding to it, Ford India will also check the EcoSport for repositioning wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags. The company also exported the compact SUV to 37 global markets. So, Ford will inspect around 40,000 units of the EcoSport manufactured during the same time frame.
It is the second recall for the Ford India within one month. Last month, the company recalled 3,072 units of the diesel to rectify the waterproof glow plug control module. The company is reaching out to customers and asking them to contact their nearest Ford dealer to rectify this issue free of cost.
The Ford EcoSport compact SUV is available in two petrol and one diesel fuel option. While the diesel version gets the 1.5-litre dCi unit, the petrol models gets 1.5-litre and 1.0-litre EcoBoost engines.
