During the grand fiesta of Auto Expo 2014, a number of home-grown and global car makers made their mark by showcasing their latest and upcoming creations. Some of these cars on display were the major highlights of the event and were lauded by both the press and audiences. Amidst this auto rendition, there were also a considerable number of concept cars, which were exhibited by various auto giants. These concepts not only gained plaudits from the auto connoisseurs but also showcased the futuristic approach of the companies towards the automotive industry. Some of the most brilliant concept cars showcased at the event were:

  1. Chevrolet Adra Concept: Chevrolet cars have not done sufficiently well in the domestic market and with the Adra concept, the company plans to change its brand image entirely. It is anticipated that this compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) will be incorporated with a 1.3-litre diesel Multijet engine, which is presently equipped under the hoods of Chevrolet enjoy and Sail. If the car goes into production, it will be giving some serious competition to the likes of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

  1. Honda Vision XS-1: This stylish looking compact SUV has been termed as the sportier version of Honda Vezel. With a 3-seating row arrangement and a capacity to accommodate a total of 7 passengers, this car definitely will be a stiff contender in its segment after being launched.

Fiat Avventura Concept: Based on the company's iconic hatchback, Fiat Punto's platform, the Avventura Concept is anticipated to be among the top-notch crossover cars to be arriving in the nation. This crossover has an SUV stance and a good ground clearance of almost 200 mm.   1. DC Eleron: Car designing unit DC also unveiled its new creation at the event, called DC Eleron. The sub-5 metre car has been packed with ultra-modern gadgets by the company, which has placed a price tag of almost Rs. 35 lakh over it.

  1. Renault KWID Concept: The French auto giant is extremely satisfied after the success of its eminent compact SUV, Renault Duster. In a bid to achieve the same, the company has showcased its upcoming innovation, called Renault KWID Concept. This car exhibits the future of compact SUVs in its design, which includes flip-up doors, cameras in place of rear-view mirrors, massive 305/50 R16 tyres and an aircraft type steering.

  2. Tata Nano Twist Active Concept: Legendary auto maker of India, Tata has decided to refurbish its compact car Nano. The Tata Nano Twist Active Concept features an opening tailgate, modern interiors and a refreshing look at the exterior. With this model, the company attempts to redefine the future of the compact cars.

  1. Ford Figo Compact Sedan: The Ford Figo Compact Sedan featured at the auto expo shares its platform with the EcoSport. The company plans to equip this car with a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine along with the option of a 1.5-litre DV5 turbocharged diesel mill. The car features robust features at inside and a cutting-edge look at the exterior, with the front grille made wider and trapezoidal.

  1. Mahindra Halo Sports Concept: Home-grown auto major, Mahindra & Mahindra also showcased its upcoming creation, called Halo Sports concept. Interestingly, this sports model is an electric car, which will be powered by a 140-bhp generating motor. Company claims that the 2-door and 2-seater car will be able to blister from 0-100 kmph in under 8 seconds.

  1. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Concept: With the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Concept, the Indian auto maker exhibited the future of upcoming sedan cars. This car is expected to arrive in a number of trims, ranging from a 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine to 1.6-litre VTVT petrol mill along with the option of a 1.3-litre DdiS diesel engine.
