Detailed Renault Duster Review

What's Good?

The Amt Renault Duster. this is work horse, it has many faces like, -Wife's car (new driver). -My everyday beat up car, I m a really rough driver and my busy schedule makes for an unpleasant driving style. But happily the duster takes in everything. -Family run about, it hauls every thing from veggies to equipment and parts. -Business tool, being a contractor as well as a garage owner, the duster comes in very handy, the good ground clearance lets me go to work sites with bad road conditions and ample boot lets me carry everything I need. Decent power calls for a good driving experience, I have updated to 17' alloys and 225/55 sections types and the car handles Wonderful. being able to go over pot holes like nothing exists is also a great relief. so as a overall family car and something to balance work and family life with a bit off added fun. The Renault Duster AMT is a Wonderful choice for me. Having run close to 50000 km I have had not many major issues.

What can improve?

Interior quality and ergonomics are a let down as that is were we spend most of out time in. Bit more comfortable seats and better bolsters. Audio which came with the car is not to great also.

Overall Comments

I really do like the dusters bold styling especially the face lift . apart from which I have added 17" wheels which makes it a bit more aggressive. it dose have a meaty look for a front wheel drive SUV wannabe .

I this the major draw back of the duster. Being a globally mass production car. The influence of the marketing department on cost cutting is very well evident inside. plastics are cheap, seats not that supportive, could use a better audio. and my gen car has the very old style climate controls. These nothing exciting about the dash to. and the fact that the rev counter is from a petrol car is sad and this only revs up to 4500 rpm and the rev counter goes all the way up to 7. Storage space is not bad especially the small areas on top of the dash which is really helpful during long journeys. rear seats are ok and leg room is enough I would say. Boot space is ample but the spare being under the car is a little irritating. I can sacrifice some boot space for a space in the car. Seats back folds down enough but not completely flat. But for my use it ample.

The Duster for the price is good riding and handling car. Me being a rough driver plus having to use it for a lot of things the car takes it up with ease. Pot holes are just won't bother the car and with the 17' whales and tyre upgrade the car handle very well. The turn in is far better than stock and rides even more comfortable.

I have added a BMC replacement filter to the car, which has no major effect but dose give a slightly better top end feel. also recently gave it a good oil treatment. With flush and AMS 5w40 synthetic oil. Car drives very smooth. Major change are the alloys which have dramatically changed the feel of driving the car, (note: adapter hub rings are needed to avoid vibrations when installing alloys).
