Upcoming Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite
October 2020 Expected Launch
6 - 11 Lakhs Expected Price

The new Nissan Magnite SUV will be the third of Nissan compact offerings for the Indian car market. It’s a sub-four metre SUV and is based on the Renault/Nissan alliance’s CMF-A+ platform, which it will share with the upcoming Renault Kiger as well. So, we can expect a lot of parts sharing, which will also provide economy of scale to both the car manufacturers.

The Magnite concept gets a large grille with a chrome surround and red highlight, LED headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs, faux skid plates with silver inserts and chunky wheel arches.  The alloy wheels are dual-tone while the tail lamps are full LED units.

We expect much of this larger than life design to be carried over to the production model with the biggest change expected to be its smaller wheels and projector headlamps (on specific variants) in place of the LED units.

The compact SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre TCe turbo-petrol engine, which was showcased by Renault at the Auto Expo 2020. This motor will be paired to both, a manual as well as an automatic transmission. In Europe, this powertrain makes 99bhp and 160Nm of peak torque. The compact SUV will be manufactured in India for the domestic market and will eventually be exported to the global market.

Nissan has revealed that it will get cruise control and touchscreen infotainment system with an 8.0-inch display. We also expect segment standard features like climate control, rear AC vents, driver’s seat height adjustment and a rear arm rest. Post launch, the Nissan Compact SUV will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
