      Yamaha Ray Precious limited edition model launched for Rs. 48,605

      India Yamaha Motor, the domestic arm of Japanese two-wheeler maker, has marked its presence in ‘scooter for girls’ segment of the Indian auto market, with the launch of Ray Precious edition. The newly launched model is aimed towards cashing in on the upcoming festive season, which is expected to pull in some decent volumes for the auto maker. Initially, the Ray model was introduced in 2012. Interestingly, the model has been offered for Rs. 48,605 (ex showroom, Delhi) and is available till the stocks last.

      Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, the Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Yamaha Motor India Sales Private Limited, Roy Kurian was quoted as saying, “The launch of the Ray Precious Edition is a clear illustration of how the market has responded to our range of scooters and reinforces our belief in the Yamaha Ray. Our strategic intent is to provide customers the Ray in a stylishly new design to match their personal style. These scooters have been instrumental in catapulting our sales to an all new level. We have kept the essence of the Yamaha Ray intact while altering the aesthetics to exemplify the glamour quotient of these compact and easy to ride vehicles. We are confident that this variant too with its vibrant black and pink design will highly appeal to our target audiences and help us tap on the festive spirits of the market.”

      Sources close to the development process have stated that Yamaha India has just did a paint job and added few decals on the regular version of Ray, in order to offer at as limited edition Precious model. The key highlights of Precious is a black paint job, accompanied with pink decals, ‘Precious Edition’ mark on top of the head lamp and ‘Ray Cygnus’ sticker at the rear. Coming to the technical configuration of Precious, the powertrain is left untouched. The two-wheeler is powered by a 113 cc air cooled 4-stroke SOHC engine, which churns out a maximum power of 7 bhp, along with a torque of up to 8 Nm.

      With the launch of a new model in the Indian two-wheeler market, industry experts are of a view that the India Yamaha Motor is looking forward to increase its market share in the upcoming festive season. It must be noted that the limited edition Ray Precious is targeted to the women buyers of the country who prefer riding a gear less scooter.
