      Yamaha India looks forward to start exports to South, Central America

      The Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Yamaha is looking forward to export their vehicles in the Central and South American market. Excited with the overwhelming response received by R15 bike in the Japanese market, the company is mulling over the option of exporting this model to the South and Central American markets. Besides R15, the company is also planning to sell the SZ and FZ series of bikes in these markets.

      The company currently sells its bikes to about 15 countries after manufacturing in India. The major exporting destinations of Yamaha India include Philippines and South Africa. Besides exporting vehicles, the company also exports components of SZ and FZ series to the Indonesian market.

      By year 2018, the company is aiming to export 20 percent of their total production to the overseas markets. The Chennai plant of the company is expected to get fully operational by year 2014 and the company is aiming to achieve as much as 95 percent localization in the manufacturing of their vehicles by this time. Meanwhile the booking for the company’s Ray scooter has been opened for the customers in India.
