As part of women empowerment initiative, the Madhya Pradesh Government has started issuing driving license to women for free. The scheme has been implemented in Indore from today, while the rest of the state it would be effective from 1st April, 2016. The process for license application remains the same, while the only change here would be that women aspiring drivers are not required to pay any fees for the same.
However, the free scheme would only be applicable for first time applicants and those applying for the second time are required to pay a fee of Rs 400. While applying online for a driving license, the applicant needs to click on ‘Female’ gender section and the payment option automatically disappears from permanent as well as learning candidates. The software designing work has been issued to ‘Smart Chip Company’ that handles RTO related process.
