Hyundai Motors India Limited has successfully launched i-series models in India. Both i10 and i20 have been well-received by the Indian customers. Now the company is weighing its options to bring i40 to India. The new Hyundai Sonata may be re-christened as Hyundai i40 and the existing models are expected to be replaced by the i40 model.

There is no official word about the same from the company, thus any price confirmation or technical details about the final models are not yet available in the market. Hyundai i40 can also be replaced as the updated version of the existing sedan. The company intends to place the new model with “value for money” proposition. It is also going to be launched with a 2.0L CRDi diesel engine.

The i40 is believed to be based on an all-new platform which will underpin other future Hyundais and Kias, with the newly unveiled 181bhp 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine being the most popular power plant. The new Hyundai i40 will be pitted against Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Skoda Laura in its segment.
