Volvo will update the V40 hatchback in the India market towards the end of the year. The facelifted version of the hatchback has been recently unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and gets mainly cosmetic updates over the outgoing model.

As expected, the new version of the V40 hatchback gets the hammer-shaped LED DRLs and the new grille, based on Volvo’s current design philosophy. There are no other changes to the exterior of the car, but Volvo is offering this hatchback with five new exterior colours and eight new alloy wheel options.

The changes to the interior are also restricted mainly to cosmetics. It has a new steering wheel, new trim colour options and aluminiuminserts. The infotainment system has also been updated, it is now compatible with Windows 10 smartphones.

Volvo continues to offer the same engine options in the global market, which makes us believe that there won’t be any change here either. The new version for India should continue to use the 2.0-litre diesel unit churning out 150bhp and 350Nm mated to the six-speed transmission, powering the front wheels.

The V40 hatchback facelift will compete with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series and will be imported to India as CBU. The prices of the new model are expected to be slightly higher than the current car.
