Performance enthusiasts in India have been eagerly awaiting the launch of Volvo's Polestar-edition. Their anticipation will finally bear fruition on April 14 when Volvo will launch the S60 Polestar. The new model will coincidentally also be the first Polestar-edition to be launched in the country. Post launch, it will compete against the likes of performance-focused models from Mercedes-Benz and BMW in India.

The S60 Polestar edition will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine that generates a massive 367bhp of power and 470Nm of torque. The powerful engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive system as standard. The electronic speed limiter restricts the top speed to 250kph and the car is quite capable of sprinting from 0-100kph in 4.7 seconds.

In terms of design, the vehicle sports strong body lines without being too aggressive at the same time. The S60 Polestar gets well designed front splitters and a rear spoiler and diffusor for high-speed stability. The vehicle sits on massive 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires that round off its sporty appeal. As for safety, the S60 Polestar gets an array of features like Active Dual Xenon headlights with headlight washers, adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system, collision warning system with full auto brake and pedestrian and cyclist detection system.

Like it older siblings, the new Volvo S60 Polestar will also be brought into the country via the CBU route. The S60 Polestar is an entry-level performance car from Volvo. But,going forward this can be seen as an indication for bigger things which might be introduced in future. Additional details about the vehicle will be known after its official launch.
