Volvo India has announced that they will launch the S90 on November 4. The Swedish carmaker had opened the pre-bookings for the car earlier this year, and now will start selling the car in our country via the CBU route.

The Volvo S90's premiere took place at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, where all the details were revealed. The sedan is based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform and it follows the XC90's design language. It is prominent with styling traits like the 'Thor's Hammer' shaped headlights and the Iron Mark front grille.

The S90's interior sports the latest equipment and tech from the other siblings. The cabin comes packed with features like Bowers and Wilkins infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery and so on. There is also a touchscreen climate-control interface for rear passengers upping the luxury quotient. The car is also loaded with a bunch of safety features like pilot assist, park assist, city safety and animal detection technology.

Only the T5 Inscription variant will be brought to our country. This trim comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 187bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Transmission duty is done by an eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.

The Volvo S90 will be the latest offering from the Swedish carmaker, who currently offers the V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, S60 Cross Country, XC60 and the XC90 in India. The luxury sedan will be available as a single variant that comes with all the bells and whistles. Upon launch, it will go up against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF in its segment.
