The Volvo S60 Cross Country will be launched in India on March 11. The vehicle is based on the S60 sedan and gets additional features over the regular sedan. It basically has retained the road mannerisms of a sedan, while providing a commanding stance.

Offered with high ground clearance and in an AWD format, the S60 Cross Country is pitted to make off-roading a relatively easy affair as compared to the regular sedan. The ride height has increased by 65mm and the car looks even more sporty and aggressive. The interior of the car sports a new dashboard and is equipped with high quality materials and equipment. It gets an instrument cluster with four digital gauges and a TFT screen showing all the information.

Volvo offers the S60 Cross Country in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options internationally. This includes the D5, which comes powered by a 2.4-litre five-cylinder diesel mill that produces 188bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all the wheels. The other D4 diesel variant gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 178bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. On the petrol engines front, the sedan is powered by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder petrol engine that belts out 247bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. It comes paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox and also comes as an AWD variant.

Volvo India might price the S60 Cross Country at a premium of Rs 4-5lakh over the current S60 sedan. We can expect it to be slotted in the Rs 38-40lakh price segment while offering the same equipment as seen on top spec S60 with front wheel drive and all-wheel-drive options. The car had made its debut at the Detroit Motor Show last year and it will finally be launched in our country this month. It will serve as a niche segment in India and will cater to buyers who are more of adventure seekers and also want the luxuries of a sedan.
